University of Koblenz participated in the Curious 2024 Future Insight™ Conference

Junior professor Dr. Marie-T. Hopp and Lorena Kröner from the Bioorganic Chemistry group at the University of Koblenz took part in the Curious 2024 Future Insight™ Conference at the Rheingoldhalle in Mainz. In the “Human Health” section, Lorena Kröner, a doctoral student from this group, had the opportunity to discuss her poster entitled “Salamander and newt skin peptides: Potential applications in drug research and medical biotechnology” with an international audience and make valuable new contacts. She also received a partial conference scholarship for the promotion of young scientists from the German Chemical Society (GDCh).

Chemist from the University of Koblenz honored with Günter Landbeck Excellence Award

Jun.-Prof. Dr. Marie-T. Hopp, junior professor for Organic Chemistry - Bioorganic Chemistry at the Institute for Integrated Natural Sciences at the University of Koblenz, received the prestigious Günter Landbeck Excellence Award in the “Experimental Work” category. This award was presented to her on November 10, 2023 at the Hamburg Hemophilia Symposium for outstanding research in the field of hemostaseology.

Travel grant from the Max Buchner Research Foundation for active participation at the ICPP 2024

Jun-Prof. Dr. Marie-T. Hopp presented current research results in the field of heme-induced coagulation disorders at the “International Congress of Porphyrins and Porphyrias” in Spain, sponsored by the Max Buchner Research Foundation.

PhD student from the University of Koblenz receives prestigious fellowship for interdisciplinary life science research

Lorena Kröner, a doctoral student in the Bioorganic Chemistry working group at the Department of Mathematics / Natural Sciences at the University of Koblenz, has been awarded one of the coveted ‘Add-on Fellowships for Interdisciplinary Life Science’ by the Joachim Herz Foundation. She will receives 12,500 euros funding over the next two years. Kröner is the only one of this year's fellows from Rhineland-Palatinate.
