Research Unit Educational Science Teaching and Learning Research Lab
Chair of Educational Science with a Focus on Classroom Research
We research and teach on the question of how multidimensional educational goals can be promoted in schools and classrooms. The educational mandate of schools, both in terms of society and the individual, extends beyond the transmission of (subject-specific) knowledge. In schools and classrooms, teachers should also support children and adolescents in developing subject-specific interests, values, and a positive perception of their own skills, as well as general socio-emotional and digital skills. In this context, we also examine issues related to the professionalization of teachers.
Our course offerings are designed for bachelor students in teacher education. The Research Unit is responsible for Module 02 ‘Didactics, Methodology, Communication, and Media’. Our teaching is competence-oriented and also pursues multidimensional educational goals. The content of the events is based on the current state of research and integrates theory and practice, thus enabling critical reflection of individual experiences against the backdrop of scientific theories, concepts, and empirical findings.
