Allocation procedure

The allocation of places for all events in Module 2 is exclusively done through KLIPS. Depending on the course, there are different procedures.
The registration procedure in Module 2 follows the general registration deadlines of Faculty 1:

  • Registration phase: From the beginning of the semester until the end of the first week of lectures
  • Late registration phase: From the beginning of the second week of lectures up to and including the end of the second week of lectures
  • Withdrawal phase: From the beginning of the semester to the end of the second week of lectures

Due to the special structure of the courses, the deadlines for allocating places are sometimes more tightly timed, but remain within the applicable deadline structure.

2.1 ‘Theoretical and Empirical Foundations of Teaching’ (lecture)
The lecture is aimed at students in their 1st semester. Places are generally allocated on the Monday in the first week of lectures.

2.2 ‘Designing Learning Environments’ (project seminar)
The seminar 'Designing Learning Environments' is aimed at students in their 1st semester and attendance is mandatory. Places are allocated in a two-stage, automated allocation procedure. As the seminars take place in parallel groups, please indicate in KLIPS as many priorities as possible for which you are free to take part in the seminar. This will increase your chances of getting a place.

Stage 1
The first allocation of places generally takes place on the Thursday before the start of the first week of lectures. You will receive an e-mail on this Thursday asking you to check whether you can take up your allocated place. If yes, you don’t need to do anything else. If not, please deregister in KLIPS from the course assigned to you by the following Tuesday and select new groups if necessary. Again, please prioritise as much as possible.

Stage 2
On the Friday in the first week of lectures, the second allocation of places will take place. You will then receive another e-mail asking you to check whether you can take up the place allocated to you. If yes, you don’t need to do anything further. If not, please cancel your registration in KLIPS for the course you have been allocated immediately. If you do not deregister from the course in KLIPS by the end of the withdrawal period (i.e. up to and including the second week of lectures) and do not attend the seminar, the course will be deemed not to have been successfully completed.

Please consider that for reasons of equal treatment of all students, all first-semester students will initially be allocated a place, as provided for in the module handbook. Any remaining places will be allocated to students in higher semesters.

2.3 ‘Communication and Interaction in the Classroom’ (practical course) and 2.4 ‘Heterogeneity’ (discourse seminar)
The seminars ‘Communication and Interaction in the Classroom’ and ‘Heterogeneity’ are aimed at students in their 2nd semester and attendance is mandatory. Places are allocated in a two-stage, automated allocation procedure. As the seminars take place in parallel groups, please indicate in KLIPS as many priorities as possible for which you are free to take part in the seminar. This will increase your chances of getting a place.

Stage 1
The first allocation of places generally takes place on the Thursday two weeks before the start of the first week of lectures. You will receive an e-mail on this Thursday asking you to check whether you can take up yourallocated place. If yes, you don’t need to do anything else. If not, please deregister from the course assigned to you in KLIPS by the following Tuesday and select new groups if necessary. Again, please prioritise as much as possible.

Stage 2
On the Thursday before the start of the first week of lectures, the second allocation of places will take place. You will then receive another e-mail asking you to check whether you can take up the place allocated to you. If yes, you don’t need to do anything further. If not, please cancel your registration for the course you have been allocated in KLIPS immediately. If you do not deregister from the course in KLIPS by the end of the withdrawal period (i.e. up to and including the second week of lectures) and do not attend the seminar, the course will be deemed not to have been successfully completed.

Please consider that for reasons of equal treatment of all students, all students from the 2nd semester will initially be allocated a place, as provided for in the module handbook. Any remaining places will be allocated to students in higher semesters.

Additional Notes on All Courses in Module 2

In addition to the aforementioned stages of the allocation of places, a final allocation of places will take place on the Monday after the official late registration phase of Faculty 1 (Monday of the third week of lectures). The withdrawal phase ends at the end of the second week of lectures. After that, it is no longer possible to cancel registrations, allocate places, accept students or swap places. Please refrain from contacting individual lecturers regarding subsequent admissions or exchanges. If you are unable to take up the place allocated to you, you have the opportunity to reapply for a place in the next semester.

You have not yet received your matriculation number: In this case, please contact the Secretariat for School Education (schulpaedagogik@uni-koblenz.de) at the beginning of the second week of lectures.

Coursework

A prerequisite for taking the final module examination is the successful completion of coursework in one of the seminars 2.2 ‘Designing learning environments’, 2.3 ‘Communication and interaction in the classroom’ OR 2.4 ‘Heterogeneity’. You are free to choose which of the seminars you would like to complete your coursework in. This coursework must be registered in KLIPS by the deadline. Late registrations are not possible. You will receive an e-mail during the semester as soon as registration in KLIPS is possible. The coursework is designed to be reflective in all seminars and is completed during the semester. You will receive further information on this in the respective seminars.
