General Information
Study trips abroad for up to 6 months can be funded by universities with a scholarship on the basis of the DAAD programme PROMOS (Programme for the Enhancement of Student Mobility). The scholarships are funded by the Federal Ministry of Research and Education (BMBF) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
From now on, stays in the United Kingdom as a non-EU member state can also be funded via PROMOS!
Funding categories The following funding categories are supported at the University of Koblenz with funds from the PROMOS programme:
Studies worldwide (1 to 6 months) Study visits for the purpose of writing a dissertation (also with a company) can also be funded. Funding for studies in the ERASMUS+ area is only possible in exceptional cases. In contrast, final theses can be funded without restriction in the ERASMUS+ area.
Internships worldwide (6 weeks to 6 months) Internships can also be funded by PROMOS. Applications for countries participating in the ERASMUS+ programme are made via the EU Service Point.
Please note that not all PROMOS scholarship opportunities described at the DAAD have been taken over by the University of Koblenz.

Necessary documents for application
Application Deadlines and Funding Period
Application period: 28 February (for stays between 1 January and 31 December)
Application period: 15 June (for stays between 1 July and 31 December)
Please note that your stay abroad must not have been completed before the application deadline. The second application round will only take place if funding is still available at that time.
Only stays abroad during the same calendar year as the application will be funded. The stay abroad can last until the subsequent year, but the grant will only be awarded for the corresponding calendar year. In principle, stays abroad - depending on the funding line - can be funded up to a maximum duration of 6 months per educational period.
Selection Criteria and Selection Procedure
PROMOS international scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic qualifications and personal suitability. After the application deadline, the applications are first checked for completeness and then evaluated by a university-internal selection committee according to a points system.
Applications for stays at partner universities (see list) and for mandatory internships will be given priority.
A decision can be expected at the end of March (application deadline 28 February) or at the end of July (application deadline 15 June).
Applicants will be notified of the decision in written form. There is no eligibility for a scholarship.
