Short biography

Dr. Qusai Ramadan is a senior postdoctoral researcher in software engineering at the Institute of Software Engineering, Koblenz University, Germany. His research is dedicated to supporting software developers in the construction and analysis of complex software systems, predominantly within the realms of model-based and -driven engineering. He develops model-based tools and techniques to ensure software quality, manage consistency and traceability, establish privacy and security, support conflict detection, and explore software fairness.

In addition, Dr. Ramadan investigates AI engineering, with a focus on applying machine-learning techniques to address challenges in software and requirements engineering, including software code classification, prediction simulation run-time, and the identification of security-related requirements. He conducts empirical, formal, and engineering research to understand the challenges encountered by software engineers, formulate enhanced solutions, and assess their applicability, usability, and performance benefits. So far the application domains of his work encompass healthcare, public administration, aircraft, agri-food, and decision-making software systems.

Dr. Ramadan received his PhD in software engineering from Koblenz University (Koblenz, Germany) in June 2020. In his Ph.D. thesis, he provides a novel model-based methodology to support: conflict detection between data protection requirements, traceability requirements, and fairness analysis in complex systems. Before, he was working as a research assistant in the same research group for the period between 2015 and 2019. From 2011-2013, he worked as a lecturer at Najran University (Saudi Arabia). In 2010, he received his MSc in IT from Utara University of Malaysia (Malaysia). He received his BSc in computer science from Al al-Bayt University (Jordan) in 2008.
