OLAT (Online Learning And Training) is an open source e-learning platform that is used as a learning management system (LMS). Among other things, the platform is used to accompany courses by providing study materials (PowerPoint slides, literature, etc...) and uploading results.
In OLAT training sessions the Interdisciplinary Career and Study Center (IKaruS) will show you how the platform works.
If you are interested, please contact the IKaruS team at ikarus-beratung@uni-koblenz.de or make an appointment for a personal consultation.
The course catalog, the online registration for courses and the electronic examination administration are handled by the Koblenz teaching and information portal for students KLIPS. Among other things, you will also find your study and BAföG certificate here.
Instructions and help can be found at: https://www.uni-koblenz.de/de/klips
We want to support you in choosing the right courses. You will find all the information you need to choose the right course in the so-called "module manuals".
You can find the module manuals for all study programs via the overview of the study programs at: https://www.uni-koblenz.de/de/studium/studienangebot.
Attention: Module manuals vary for each study program
In the module manuals you can independently find which modules you can and should take in the first semester and book them in KLIPS.
Please note: Often first-year students are not accepted for higher modules due to lack of space or because prior knowledge must first be acquired.
Before you start choosing courses on your own, we advise you to create your timetable only IN the O-Phase. First-years in B.Ed. can also contact the Center for Teacher Education.
The UniCard is the multifunctional card that most students continue to call their student ID. You can use it throughout your entire stay at university. You only need to apply for it once and validate it every semester. You can find the most important information here :
What do I need the UniCard for?
The Uni-Card is mainly used as a semester ticket, as a payment card at the Studierendenwerk (e.g. for the cafeteria), as a library card and as a student ID (e.g. to id at exams).
How can I apply for the UniCard?
If you already created an computer ID and a password for online services of the university, you need to upload your photo on the homepage of the university at https://www.uni-koblenz.de/de/unicard/foto-upload.
Further information and contact details for the UniCard are available at https://www.uni-koblenz.de/de/unicard/.
Where do I recieve my UniCard?
You must pick up your UniCard in person and present your official ID. You can find out when you can pick up your UniCard on the Unicard Support website or by sending an e-mail to unicard@uni-koblenz.de.
The UniCard Support is also responsible for further questions.
How can I validate my UniCard?
The validation terminals are located at the window front in front of the large lecture hall (Audimax) D028 in the D-building. It is best to validate your UniCard immediately after you receive it!
What is the computer ID?
For your studies you need a Uni-ID or called computer ID.
But what is it anyway? You need the computer ID so that the system knows that you are enrolled as a student. As a result, you have numerous options and advantages at your disposal.
Besides the WLAN usage, there are many other advantages. You can find some of them under "Your advantages as a student".
You don't have a computer ID yet?
This is how you create one: Go to https://profile.uni-koblenz.de and click on "Register". Keep your matriculation number ready for this, you will need it ;-)
If you already have a university e-mail, you already have a computer ID.
When you apply for the computer ID, you create your university e-mail address at the same time. For example mustermann@uni-koblenz.de. The hostname is always the part before the @ in your university e-mail address.
address. So here "mustermann".
Next to the Uni-ID you also create a password. You have to enter this password every time you are asked for your e-mail or ID.
In case you currently don't have internet there is a terminal in A-building, which is only meant for you to create your computer ID.
Profile management
You can change your password in the profile administration area of the computer center. You can find this at https://profile.uni-koblenz.de.
Just as every European University, our university also uses the Eduroam network, which give you internet access at almost every university in Europe.
Automatic installation
The eduroam organization offers an installation help for all operating systems, which automatically performs the recommended configuration on your mobile device. Attention: Android users have to install the app geteduroam from the Google PlayStore before.
Manual setup
If possible, you should avoid setting up the eduroam WLAN manually. If it is unavoidable, the following information will help you:
Network name / SSID: | eduroam |
EAP method: | PEAP (also WPA-Enterprise or 802.1x) |
Phase2 authentication: | MSCHAPv2 |
Anonymous Identity: | eduroam@uni-koblenz.de |
Domain: | uni-koblenz.de |
Username / Identity: | Your @uni-koblenz.de mail address. The password for authentication is the university password. |
CA certificate: | If possible, use system certificates. Alternatively, install and use this certificate chain. |
Security recommendation
It is easy for hackers to impersonate network Eduroam and get your data!
You can prevent this by installing the security certificate. Save this download, name it and select it as a security certificate when logging in.
