Plastics - materials and processes

We carry out applied research and development work and provide services in the field of manufacturing and characterising innovative plastic and plastic composite materials. Our focus is on the development and processing of functional, thermoplastic materials, particularly by means of extrusion and injection moulding.

Composite materials from compounding to characterisation with a focus on achieving additional functions (e.g. conductivity, barrier effect, antimicrobial finish, etc.),
Joining techniques with a focus on bonding technology and plastic welding,
Surface modification and coating, in particular functionalisation to improve adhesion and resistance.
Functional materials for additive manufacturing, in particular for fusion coating and selective laser sintering.

Of particular interest are issues relating to the energy and resource efficiency of plastic materials and their production methods, such as the replacement of substances that are harmful to health and the environment or the replacement of primary materials with secondary and natural materials.
