The department unites under its roof the scientific and didactic training of the subject biology and the associated cooperative study programs BioGeoSciences and Water Science and Water Management.

Research

The Department of Biology provides a wide range of services in applied and basic research in seven working groups with seven professorships. A wide range of research methods are used.

The Mosenberg Biological-Ecological Station in Bettenfeld

The station is open to schools and working groups who want to investigate hydrological, geological, phytosociological or other open-air ecological issues in the Volcanic Eifel for scientific or educational purposes.

Among other things, it has been recognised as an extracurricular place of learning for sustainability and a school-related environmental education facility.
