German Foreign Language Assistant Abroad

Would you like to work as a foreign language assistant? The programme allows you to do an internship at an educational institution abroad. Prospective teachers support foreign language teaching and gain an insight into the education system and culture of the host country. Currently, Australia, Belgium, Canada (Anglophone and Québec), France, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and the USA participate in the programme.

Programme description

The programme is primarily aimed at student teachers of English, French, Spanish, Italian and Chinese. For some destination countries, students of all subjects and/or student teachers of other subject combinations with appropriate language skills can also apply.

Duration of funding

The programme duration depends on the host country and is between 6 and 11 months.

Scholarship benefits

As a foreign language assistant, you will receive a monthly allowance that roughly covers the living costs for one person. The amount varies depending on the host country. Travel costs must be covered by yourself for most countries.

Application

The application takes place via an online portal. Please note that the application deadline depends on the host countries. An interview is also part of the selection process.
