Students will be nominated by the University of Koblenz based on academic excellence, seriousness of interest in the study proposed, adequate language competences, capacity to adjust to cross-cultural situations. For the first round of interns, we are looking for students interested staying and teaching at Summitt Elementary for the full twelve weeks.
Student Teaching Orientation
A brief description of the duties as well as rules and regulations that might pertain to you and your stay will be provided at the beginning of the internship.
Observation
1st Week or Two - With kids
2nd or 3rd Week - With kids and teachers
Other possibilities during this time
▪Observe different classes within the same school
▪Take an opportunity to observe different schools within the Anderson Vertical Team
▪Observe special areas (Music, Art, PE)
▪Attend a field trip
▪Observe cafeteria
▪Interactions in the library
▪Attend FLEX language lesson
▪Attend morning assembly
▪Observe recess
▪Attend planning time / team meeting
▪Begin planning "total teach" lessons
▪Planning and executing a few more lessons each week building up to the total teach
▪Observe data meeting
▪Help with arrival and dismissal procedures
▪Attend an extra campus event (i.e. Teacher Talent Show, Carnival, etc.)
▪Observe intervention or Dyslexia support
Total Teach - Last Two Weeks
▪Classroom teacher will remain in the classroom
▪Student teacher will be responsible for running the classroom for those two weeks
Evaluation and /or Feedback from Summitt Elementary School
▪Checklist signed by teacher
▪Rubric pertaining to lesson design and execution (use during lesson)
▪Any other assignment provided by University of Koblenz or Summitt Elementary
Additional Information
▪Successful candidates will need to provide a criminal history/background check which must be certifiably translated and submitted to AISD (Austin Independent School District).
▪Student teachers will be asked to join Elementary German teacher for other school/classroom visits.
▪Visits to other grade levels and schools may be possible.

▪Transcript from KLIPS with grades
▪Profile page for Summitt Elementary in English
▪Professional application photo (no selfies!!)
