Robbie
Description
The task of the autonomous rescue robot Robbie is to locate victims in disaster scenarios and to generate a map of the environment simultaneously. Since 2006, student teams compete in the RoboCupRescue league of international robot championships at the RoboCup.
Robbie already became World Champion at the RoboCup World Championchips in the category "Autonomous Rescue Robots" twice, amongst multiple awards from national competitions.
Robbie is build for a simulated scenario of catastrophe and has to do all his decisions on his own, completely autonomously. He starts to explore the area and looks for victims with his sensors. Once he encounters a simulated victim, he tries to validate it and informs his operator via wireless connection. In addition, he collects a map of the area and is able to hand it over to rescue forces.
