Loss, Defect and Replacement

Loss

If you lose your UniCard, please have the card deactivated as soon as possible so that the credit on your card can be temporarily blocked. To do this, contact UniCard Support immediately at unicard@uni-koblenz.de. Use your university e-mail address as the sender and enter your matriculation number.

To obtain a new UniCard, please follow the steps described below under the heading "Replacement".

Defect

If the payment function of your card is frozen, please place the card again on the payment terminal where you last used the card. You can ask at the Studierendenwerk cash desks which payment terminal your card was last used on.

In the event of other defects, such as damage to the TRW strip, chip or antenna due to bending or abrasion, please follow the steps described below under the heading "Replacement" to obtain a new UniCard. The new card will be issued to you in exchange for your old card.

If the defect is not your fault (without visible external influence), please show your card to UniCard Support (Student Office (Studienbüro), Emil-Schüller-Straße 12,56068 Koblenz, Raum 034) as proof. In this case, the replacement fee will be waived. It will first be checked whether there is actually a defect.

Change of Name

If your name changes during your studies, please apply for a name change via KLIPS . As soon as your name change appears in KLIPS, please apply for a new ID card via this website (please do NOT do this sooner). Follow the steps under the heading "Replacement".

Replacement

Please note the relevant information for your case under “Loss, Defect and Change of Name”. You can then apply for your replacement UniCard as follows:

1) Please apply for your replacement card via an email to UniCard Support (unicard@uni-koblenz.de). Please use your university e-mail address as the sender and state your matriculation number.

2) Please transfer the replacement card fee of 18 € to the following bank account:

NOTE: Please be sure to use the specified reason for payment and do not include any other details in the subject line! Otherwise, your transfer can no longer be allocated automatically ad the production of your card may be considerably delayed. Once the replacement fee has been paid, it CANNOT be refunded - even if the replacement application is cancelled.

3) Please follow the instructions here to upload your ID card image again. The picture for the first issue of your card was deleted after production for data protection reasons.

4) As soon as the replacement card fee has been received and your new UniCard has been produced, we will notify you by email.

5) Please bring your old UniCard (in case of defect or name change) and your identity card, passport or residence permit with you when you collect your new card.

6) Please validate your new card immediately at one of the validation terminals so that you can use it.

7) You can have any remaining credit on your previous UniCard transferred to your new card in the event of a defect or name change. You will need your replacement card for this. Please contact the card service of the Studierendenwerk Koblenz.

Once you have submitted a complete replacement application, you can usually collect your replacement card within a week.

Until you have received the replacement card, please identify yourself for examinations and university elections with your identity card or residence permit and the certificate of enrolment, which you can download from KLIPS and then print out. If you lose your UniCard, you will unfortunately not be able to use your semester ticket again until you receive your new UniCard.
