The committee advises on doctoral procedures at the faculty and is responsible for the formal framework conditions.

Faculty 3: Mathematics / Natural Sciences has had its own doctoral degree regulations since 2 August 2004. With effect from 13 April 2015, the current doctoral degree regulations apply.

The doctoral committee consists of four professorial members as well as one member each from the academic staff, students and technical and administration staff. Deputy members are appointed in the same composition.

The committee is chaired by the dean or a vice-dean as their deputy.

Administrative information regarding the PhD project

Starting in the 2026/27 winter semester, the University of Koblenz is converting the administration of its doctoral procedures to an online application process named KO-File. With KO-File, you can submit applications related to your doctoral procedure and upload the necessary documents directly within the software. You will have access to your digital file at any time, can update your contact information on your own, and can view documents related to your procedure.

If you would like to submit an application for admission to the faculty, please register via KO-File: First, create a user account. After logging in, the software will guide you step by step through the application process for admission as a doctoral candidate in our faculty.

If you have already submitted an application for admission to the faculty, you can activate your user account using the email address provided in your application and gain access to your doctoral candidate profile (“D-Akte”). To do so, please enter your email address on the “Forgot your password?” page and request a new password. A link to set a new password will be sent to your email address.

KO-File was developed by the IFGPZ in close collaboration with the faculties. Please direct any technical questions regarding login and registration via email to ko-file@uni-koblenz.de. Questions regarding the application and the data stored in KO-File will be answered by our dean's office.

Please note that currently, KO-File is only fully available in German. While we work on a comprehensive English translation, we kindly ask you to seek advice with the dean’s office if you encounter difficulties understanding the application forms or the information saved in your personal file.
